Commitment No. 2 - Undeveloped discoveries: the satellite accelerator
"We will support, through LOGIC, the satellite accelerator trial aimed at developing technically and/or commercially challenging marginal discoveries by harnessing the combined expertise of the wider industry in identifying creative and innovative solutions."
Progress to date : achievements and difficulties encountered
This process, sponsored by LOGIC with support from across the industry, for the development of difficult, marginal oil and gas discoveries has resulted in significant progress on more than 10 undeveloped discoveries and one field development in 2001.
The process and its applications will continue to evolve, as the concept of non-prescriptive tendering has been shown to work in a variety of circumstances, from high pressure-high temperature reservoirs to remote locations and multi-well, brownfield re-developments. Seven separate projects have so far been evaluated, with teams and potential solutions being selected for most of these, thereby proving the capability of the supply chain to provide workable, economic proposals.
A key factor in this progress has been the multi-company, multi-discipline teamwork and commercial ideas, coming together to provide the types of innovative solutions necessary to ensure a longer term future for production from the UKCS. See also www.logic-oil.com/accelerator
